Waldorf nw1 Wavetable Eurorack Module (Musikmesse 2015)

At the 2015 NAMM Show: Waldorf introduced the nw1 Wavetable Module for Eurorack modular synthesizers.

This video via Analogue Zone Showroom, takes a look at the new wavetable module.

According to the developers, by providing the Waldorf wavetable set from the classic Microwave and Wave synthesizers, nw1 ‘will enrich your Eurorack modular system as a potently powerful sound source’.

The nw1 sound engine also allows for onboard creation of user wavetables via time domain multiple foldover analysis. All you need to do is connect any sound source to the nw1 to transfer audio into a wavetable. Or use the integrated speech synthesizer to translate typed text into wavetables.

    1. What on earth
If people are gonna be so obsessed over whether something is musical or not? Are we really gonna have to resort to calling musical instruments “soundmakers” because they don’t fit the common western idea of musicality?

  1. actually, for sounddesign, I find this module more than appealing!
text to speech, audio to wavetable, option to use both worlds: analog & digital,…

Thank you Waldorf, count me in!

  2. WaveTable sequencing ala WaveStation! Analog subtractive is great but give me more digital options to explore new realms of sound and rhythms. This gets my attention.

    1. I just feel it lacks a bit of additional modular routing capabilities. Otherwise, yes…very cool to see the XT in modular form!

  3. Announcement of this module got me to think that I really do need to get into modular.

    And I went. Deep.

Now I cannot afford buying this module!

    1. If you cannot afford this one module, then you cannot afford modular. Once you take that first step, modular will demand MORE of your cash. You’ll be forced to feed the beast.

    2. yeah i feel this way too. the guy behind 4ms is a friend of mine, i was talking to him about the filter and this module and told him he’s made me “modular curious” and not to tell my folks 😛

  4. Probably one of the better demos so far but I sure wish they’d quit focusing some much on the VOX/speech synthesis. This module is so much more than that.

To those that say it isn’t musical, I think you are selling this module WAY short. The types of sounds you can craft for it can be used in very musical ways.
