New Project Brings Elektron Monomachine, Machinedrum To Your DAW

Gearmulator MD/MM is a new open-source project by Joe Landers that emulates the Elektron MonoMachine and MachineDrum.

The software essentially creates a virtual machine that can run the official firmware, and handle the input and output needed to be used on your computer.

It is currently in alpha, but there are downloads for Linux, Mac & Windows. It requires you to supply your own firmware file.

If you’ve given this a try, share your experience in the comments!

  1. A very cool addition to the dsp56300 emulators but its still in its infancy and its not at all CPU friendly.. don’t expect this to run on your macbook 2015 .. runs good on M1 16gb but still pretty buggy..
I can see why people are getting exited about this release but i think this is more interesting ..
    Animatek NME (formerly Nomad2026)
is a modern native editor for the Clavia Nord Modular G1 synthesizer. It is a JUCE/C++ reimplementation inspired by the original Java Nomad editor, built to run on current macOS, Windows, and Linux systems without requiring an old Java runtime.
look for Animatek-NME on github and if your any good at coding help get this thing off the ground ..
A open source vst nord modular with the editor as the main interface would be piggy heaven..
    🙂

      1. Because it’s different, with distinct sound that feels nostalgic and familiar to older users, and in some ways easier like with polyphony.

  2. I have an M1 Pro with 32gb of ram and machinedrum is unusable at 139% cpu spikes. The mono machine rests at about 79%. Hopefully this is fixed soon, an M1 Pro is capable of a lot.
