Developer Kai Aras has introduced RE-1, a virtual tape echo, looper and master effect for iOS.

RE-1 is described as a ‘virtual Tape Machine’, capable of delivering tape-style echo and chorus effects.

  • Sample/Loop library loads wave files onto the virtual tape loop

    1. I agree people need to get away from screens. And I agree you can’t replicate tape.

      However, there’s nothing wrong with trying. And a $5 app that gives you even a fraction of that personality is a fine thing.

      I suppose a person could find a beat up old tape machine at a yard sale and have much more fun playing with the reel deal.

        1. Ironically, I bought an old tape machine just today. So far it does nothing, because it needs to be repaired and serviced first. Also I need to find 1960s tape for it. Meanwhile, people make music with this app…you get my point 😉

  1. Been using it a few days now, very cool and lots of fun to tweak. For $5 more proof how amazing my iPads are when it comes to sonic creation, ease of use and total portability.
