I’ve been following this for a couple months. This is gonna be a game changer. I think an electrolarynx works the same way these guys are geniuses for taking that technology to this level.

Exactly. Not a new idea, just the application of an electrolarynx in music. All it does is sending sound, bypassing the vocal chords or a tube, to your mouth. A speaker to your throat does it. A current asking price of $ 1000 is beyond reasonable proportions.Even the repeatedly postponed pre-order price of $ 500 was very high. Until the price drops below $ 250 I will keep on using my current equipment.

In theory, what is the difference between talkbox and auto-tune ? Just curious
one word “google” you’re asking about two very different technologies and to spend time a space here teaching about both is crazy. if you don’t know the difference googling them both and learning them will be very beneficial to you. best of luck in your adventure!
Ow… Him… I was just looking for a quick summary, it looks like both are driven by the carrier logic etc. I should have used the term vocoder instead of auto-tune, as it makes no sense to compare auto-tune and talk box indeed. Anyway, thanks for using your time for reprimand instead of basically bring information in what’s basically the comment section of a specialized information website 🙂 !

a traditional talkbox routes an audio signal through a compression driver (a kind of speaker). a plastic tube sits on the end of the driver, so the output of the driver goes into one end fo the tube tube, and the other end of the tube goes into your mouth, so you can process sound with your mouth.
auto-tune is a DSP algorithm for the modulation of pitch.
It’s not a “New Tubeless Design”. Rather its an old one. However, it is nice to see it with a few obvious modern twists.

Yeah this is an updated Sonovox – a device from the 1940’s. Very cool and overdue, but not strictly new technology.
lol – nothing new here, except the wireless connectivity, iPhone app, all-in-one mobile design, etc.
Kind of like complaining that the Minimoog was ‘just an updated Moog modular’.
This is a pretty cool piece of gear that looks like it would be a blast to use. It’s sad that some people are too jaded, cynical or whatever to see that!
When we say this isn’t technically “new” that’s not a complaint about the product. Both Al-x and I acknowledge that it’s very cool. My only “complaint” is that they didn’t acknowledge that it already existed.
Imagine if someone made a device that grinds the tip of a pencil to a cone-shaped point, I don’t know, maybe using lasers or something, but then they don’t acknowledge that the thing they made is a pencil sharpener that has existed for like 100 years or something. It’s not a complaint about their awesome laser sharpener, it’s just that they are acting like they came up with the idea.
BTW, is there a laser sharpener? Oh right, plastic, perma-landfill mech pencils, right.
