When we shared a recent video of Matt Johnson (Jamiroquai) sharing his thoughts on the Moog One, some readers wondered about his striking electric piano.
In his latest video, Johnson discusses the keyboard, a Vintage Vibe 64 Deluxe Electric Piano.
Vintage Vibe is a New Jersey-based company that makes modern electric pianos that offer a modern take on the classic Fender Rhodes design. The company builds the tines – which are the heart of the classic Fender Rhodes sound – to the original’s specifications. But the rest of the keyboard has been redesigned, with today’s capabilities, so that the keyboard sounds like a Rhodes, but offers additional features and reduced weight
I’ve got one, and it’s superb. I actually have the same version as the one in the video but with a solid green top.
Since getting it, I had to sell many synths because nothing inspired me as much as my Vintage Vibe.
wow, beautiful instruments under hands that can really make them sing. i’m a huge Jamiroquai too so this is a real treat.
it is refreshing to see a demo that features a lot of playing. It is a simple looking instrument, played very well and it sings.
I’ve got an actual vintage Rhodes and honestly, I’d trade it for one of these if I could, because they have the sound and they are gorgeous, but also lighter and probably more reliable.
