Does anyone know anyone using this? The shelves at Guitar Center stay in stock.
Yep – good pal of mine absolutely loves his and keeps noting that more than one can be chained together. I won’t be surprised when he’s got more than one runnin’.
Am I the only person who sees how hackable this is as a front end to a MIDIbox or Arduino sequencer?
Funny you mention it, i was wondering about something similar. Haven’t gotten around to see if it’s open source, but i’m assuming it’s not…
For this product, the buttons and knobs send MIDI messages, and uses MIDI to light the lights and write to the display. I saw the specific messages documented somewhere…
Is the other Akai equipment hackable?
What does it mean what Akai says there are “new pricing options available” for existing FL Studio users?
Probably that it’s cheaper without FL software.
Akai Pro Fire has been available for $99 by itself directly from Image-Line this whole time. All that has changed is that Akai is selling it directly that way now (through retailers, that is.)
It’s only available in some countries, but I had to get a fair way through attempting to buy before I discovered this.
I didn’t realize that. Sure enough, 99$ directly from IL: https://buyflfire.com/fl-akai-fire
Once Akai abandons these, it might be fun to scoop up four on the cheap to see how much havoc you could create.
