Depeche Mode Founder Andy ‘Fletch’ Fletcher Dead At 60

Depeche Mode announced today that founder and keyboardist Andy ‘Fletch’ Fletcher has died at the age of 60.

Andy Fletcher (8 July 1961 – 26 May 2022) was a founding member of Depeche Mode, playing with them for over 40 years, from their debut album, Speak & Spell, through their latest studio album, Spirit. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, along with his Depeche Mode bandmates, in 2020.

The band shared the news via a statement:

“We are shocked and filled with overwhelming sadness with the untimely passing of our dear friend, family member, and bandmate Andy ‘Fletch’ Fletcher.

Fletch had a true heart of gold and was always there when you needed support, a lively conversation, a good laugh, or a cold pint.

Our heart are with his family, and we ask that you keep them in your thoughts and respect their privacy in this difficult time.”

  1. What a terrible week, what sad news from the musical world. Having grown up on Vangelis, Jean-Michel, Pet Shop Boys, Erasure and much later I came to appreciate DM much more than I had in my formative years, I am saddened by all accounts a man whom seemed to be such a gentle and loving soul.

I hope his family, friends, and those whom he loved feel all the warmth and love of the masses whom mourn loss of Andy.

  2. Having grown up on Italo and House being nameless to me cause it was all in mixes, Depeche Mode was my first official all synth band with a name I could attach. Super duper saddened by this…genuinely shocked by the announcement. Shit, if one of the Pet Shop Boys were to go…I don’t even want to think about such scary news.
Hey everyone here, keep on making music. Synth Music
