2024 NAMM Show: AlphaTheta Corporation, the brand formerly known as Pioneer DJ, has introduced the OMNIS-DUO portable DJ system.
The OMNIS-DUO is lightweight, compact enough to fit in a backpack and can be used anywhere. It can run for 5 hours on battery, and you can charge from the AC adapter or plug in a compatible power bank (45W or more) to the dedicated USB Type-C terminal.
The company says that it’s the first DJ system to feature a Bluetooth audio output function, in addition to professional XLR output, and RCA terminals.
You can play music from a wide range of sources, including USB Type-A drives and SD cards or a PC/Mac via the USB Type-C terminal. The Wi-Fi function means you can access tracks on a PC/Mac, smartphone, or the cloud without a wired connection.
Other Features:
- 8 types of Beat FX
- 6 types of Sound Color FX
- 8 Hot Cues per deck
- Dedicated Beat Jump buttons
- Dedicated Beat Loop controls
- 2 Mic inputs
- Booth output (combined with master RCA)
Pricing and Availability:
The AlphaTheta OMNIS-DUO Portable DJ System is available now for $1,499 USD.
Has anyone actually climbed to a top of a mountain in the middle of no where to play edm on a 1500 dollar dj system?
You will. And the company that’ll bring it to you? AT&T.
Not on a mountain but there is some dude (and some copycats too) in the UK who DJs on a bike. And that before we had all the portable options from Numark and Denon.
Adam Freeland did a solo desert DJ stream 3 years ago – watch?v=6gjyzdd6DFk
I’ve played many desert festivals and it looks exactly like that. I’ve also been responsible for sound and power at these events and it can be a nightmare getting setup and having so much stuff. DJ’s and performers use all sorts of different setups, I could definitely see someone using something like that. For me I had no idea the pretty much iconic pioneer DJ is now branded some other random name. I’m getting old.
I have. At altitude, 120 bpm comes out at 115 bpm so adjust your play times accordingly.
Pioneer = Hope you like firmware 1.0 forever + eternity.
So, I guess DJs are okay with >40ms latency?
Fun fact, Dj Tiesto uses a old android nexus tablet to trigger cue points and samples, now if you know early android you’ll know its very laggy for any music production even beyond 65ms
The scratching live external audio is a cool feature and a first as far as I know. It seems like it only works with Bluetooth but would be cool if it could also do audio from usb.
this thing is depressing for so many reasons, being “inspired by denim” certainly among them, with so many technical shortcomings. the i/o is terrible. the fact that the power button is on the top of the panel while the USB port is on the back is a near unforgivable design flub. relegating color effects to the screen is stupid. this is a bad device.
