Cosmos Drifting Memory Station “Gives Instant Frippertronic Vibes”

In his latest video, synthesis Matt Johnson (Jamiroquai) explores the SOMA Laboratory COSMOS Drifting Memory Station.

Designer Vlad Kreimer has said that the COSMOS is designed to work with meditative states through music:

“The design of the controls, functions and generated soundscapes are intended to evoke, in both performer and listener, states and experiences inherent in meditation, such as limitless space, fluidity, spontaneous development, presence, the ability to hear, tranquility, the experience of subtle harmony and happiness enveloping the whole world.”

Johnson says that it’s a “super interesting” effect that “gives instant Frippertronic vibes”.

Check out the demo, and share your thoughts on the COSMOS in the comments!

  1. It’s nice to have the hardware but at $500 Euros it seems like you could get the same effects from a plugin. Does Puremagnetik make anything like it? I’m sure somebody does, or will, for less than $50.

  2. That there needs to be two separate firmwares makes the product seem half-baked. Rhythmic / non-rhythmic should be a front panel switch.

    It does sound lovely though.
