Arturia has released Pigments 6, a major update to their flagship software synthesizer.
Pigments 6 features a powerful new Modal engine, upgraded filters, advanced modulators, and a suite of creative tools.
Here’s what’s new in Pigments 6:
- New Modal Engine – Create physically-inspired tones using collisions or friction, from plucked strings to resonant pads.
- New Filters – New options include the “analog-infused” Multimode V2, the stacked Cluster filter for swirling textures, and LoFi for crunchy, lo-fi style coloration.
- New Vocoder Effect – Create classic vocal textures to avant-garde color-bass sound design, blending external input or Pigments’ engines.
- New Modulators – Elevate expression by assigning different modulation values per voice, adding deeper randomness, triggering audio-driven envelope followers, and sculpting curves with the revamped Function V2.
- Granular Improvements – Scan through samples mid-playback for time-stretching atmospheres, randomize grain playback for each note, and continuously adjust grain size for fluid, evolving textures.
- UX & UI Enhancements – Updates include Quick Edit V2’s drag-and-drop workflow, an improved file browser, and a refreshed layout.
Pricing and Availability:
Pigments 6 is available now for $99 USD (normally $199).
and a free update for owners of previous versions, once again!
Why do you think it’s a free update? It certainly doesn’t show up that way on my computer.
It is. Use the Arturia SC
We can now add images (PNG) to 3rd-party preset packs (control-click on the pack) and the new “show similar presets” works great for me, at least as a suggestion for other presets I might like. They are not actually that “similar” :))
Can’t think of a more versatile softsynth for the money. I bought it on Pigments 2 for something like $79, and the synth has expanded exponentially since then. Besides Bitwig’s synthesis options, Pigments is the only softsynth I use.
I went all in on Bitwig myself. Recommend anyone reading this comment to give it a try.
But I can definitely think of better sounding soft synths for the money!
(it’s a preference thing, not a universal truth kind of thing)
Name some?
The new arturia update continually crashes on my M4 Max MacBook
I’m not a Mac person but I had same issue a few months ago with my PC. What ended up fixing it for me was completely uninstalling the graphics driver (Nvidia in my case…) and rebooting, then reinstalling graphics driver. Can also try installing a previous driver version if still crashing…
My favorite vst. Polybrute 12, Microfreak, the Keystep line… Arturia has become the top synth company by a mile. The only misstep has been the Astrolab. They just need to release a new drum machine with great sequencer, sampling and synth engine… like a Drumlogue but actually good.
This a great original softsynth from ARTURIA.
I find it similar to KORG’s WAVESTATE.
Fully programable.
Wavestate internal waveforms are very dull and its FX section is nothing to be proud of. In fact it is one of the worst sounding FXs section of all time.
It only gets more interesting when properly programmed and when using 3rd party preset packs. Korg should send a monthly check to Ian Dixon and Maik Schott, because they have really elevated their product and its sonical possibilities.
Wow! What can I say. Started with Pigments 2. Always been my go to synth, but now, oh boy, experiment, experiment experiment!
