At the 2025 NAMM Show, Arcana Instruments made its NAMM Show debut of the Strum, an accessible electronic instrument.
The Arcana Strum is an example of adaptive technology, designed to be able to be used by people with a wide range of physical and cognitive abilities.
The Arcana Strum can be played in many different ways, and can be customized to be usable by people with a wide range of abilities.
Accessory options include a variety of playing handles, an alternate keyboard, a T Mount for securing the device to a desk, and the Air Strum, which lets users control the Strum using movement of the hands, feet or head.
“During development…we carefully studied and considered your needs in order to optimize your playing experience,” note the developers. “For instance, several ideas came from observing how people operate motorized wheelchairs, and we incorporated some of these ideas in the accessories we developed. By doing so, we provide solutions for a wide range of needs and abilities, both physical and cognitive.”
Here’s an example of the Arcana Strum in use:
Pricing and Availability:
The Arcana Strum is available now for $1,450 USD.
reminds me of the old Space Ball controllers. let’s see some Knobs and Dials
Space Mouse does not have knobs or dials, just buttons. The Pro model has a small OLED display.
reminds me dude. comprehendo?
Knobs and Dials – I meant Dials and Buttons, and it was a different product altogther.
Bravo!! Enabling more people to be able to experience creating music. I love this. But it is quite expensive.
For creators interested in unusual switches and sensors that they can use for projects, I highly recommend checking out adaptivetechsolutions. A lot of the switches and sensors in the 2nd video look familiar to me from that site. Though I’m able bodied, perhaps an oxymoron for a drummer, I found some bite switches that I turned into expression controllers for my drums.
