Applied Acoustics Systems has announced Multiphonics CV-3, a major update to their modular synthesizer and effect processor for macOS and Windows.
New features in Multiphonics CV-3 include: polyphony, MPE compatibility, a new 3-Operator FM oscillator module, new acoustic objects oscillator modules, comb and tube filters, and more.
“The standout feature of Multiphonics CV-3 is its new polyphonic capability, which fundamentally transforms its potential as a musical instrument,” says Benoit Charland, lead product designer at Applied Acoustics Systems. “A patch can be made polyphonic with literally the push of a button. We’ve also expanded the module library with new acoustic oscillators based on our award-winning physical modeling technology, bringing AAS’s signature tone and feel into the modular realm. Combined with the new MPE compatibility, this opens the door to crafting truly unique synths with unparalleled expressive control.”
Here’s what’s new in Multiphonics CV-3:

Just bought the upgrade, though details are scarce.
They had me at “MPE”. And, given AAS’s PhysMod chops, getting hopeful about some quality modules for it.
Modular isn’t my thing, but their Chromaphone and Strum sure are. The former is still the most inviting general modeler I’ve seen. The latter is an excellent acoustic AND electric guitar modeler. I lean on both plug-ins regularly and they always deliver. I’ve been playing them for several years and I can instinctively reach for what I need on the run, like grabbing a Minimoog filter knob.
Right on! – Strum and Chromaphone are devastatingly great.
iI loved Tassman, i am quite fond of chromaphone, everything else i wasn’t really a fan, including cv-1. Too much hussle for what it offer for me. Anyway, i upgraded and hopefully this will turn nicely.
