Superbooth 2025: The WMD Skorpion Waveform Reanimator is an 8-stage wavefolder, with built in modulation over different parameters.
They say it can create “some of the most complex and evolving waveshapes you’ve ever heard, out of anything you run through it.”
Skorpion is an 8-stage analog wavefolder that allows you to precisely mangle simple waveforms into complex shapes with a hands-on fader interface. Taking the concept many steps further, internal modulation sources allow for macro animation of multiple parameters simultaneously, creating rich, evolving harmonic movement.
WMD is previewing the Skorpion at Superbooth and says it’s in the 9th and final prototype phase, nearing readiness for production.
Features:
- Vector-based wavefolder
- Eight stage equivalent (8 positive and 8 negative reversal points)
- Shape Feedback control for fine or extreme timbre shaping
- Macro Animation over Fold, Slope, Shape, Shift, and all eight Thresholds.
- LFO or Envelope Modes
- Single Gate input for macro animation control
- LFO rate from 0.0016Hz to 6Hz
- ENV time from 0.05 seconds to 600 seconds
- Mono to stereo operation
- CV over Dry/Wet/Wide stereoizer
- Proprietary vector based stereo delay
- Bass frequencies in mid, high frequencies side processed
- Only one sub-layer to learn for advanced functionality
- 1V/octave tracking
- Hard and soft sync
- Lots of I/O
Pricing and Availability:
Skorpion is available now to pre-order for $999 USD, with shipping expected to begin in Sept/Oct 2025.
WMD says that, due to the difficulty in projecting the future with parts sourcing, tariffs, etc, Skorpion will be produced in one limited run. While it is expected to ship in September or October, this could be delayed depending on the state of tariffs and parts procurement. They note that “pre-orders are price-locked and will not be affected by ever changing politics.”
