Elektron as released Digitakt II OS 1.15, a free update that adds sample slicing and more.
Here’s what’s new in Digitakt II OS 1.15:
- Slice machine – Chop up and use your sample slices however you like, opening up for new rhythmic and melodic exploration.
- Cut your samples up into as many as 64 editable slices. Deconstruct loops for wild implementation across your sequencer, and tap into unpredictable beat and melody variations.
- Create slice grid – Choose how many slices you want on your plate by placing an equally divided slice layout over the current sample. Or enable transient detection to adjust the slices according to your sample’s peaks
- Edit slice points – Use the slice editor to precisely adjust start, end, and loop markers for each and every sample. Link or unlink adjacent slices for creative control.
- Random or Linear Locks – Assign slices to existing sequencer trigs – randomly for glitchy grooves, or linearly for straighter cuts.
- Slice Trig Mode – Easily access your different slices using the trig keys, with the ability to reach every single one even if you’ve gone for the max number of slices.
Digitakt II 1.15 is available now to download.
lmao they only did it cause Ableton Move did it first for a fraction of the price 🙂
Sure. It’s not like that the Octatrack MK2 has this feature since before the Move launched. And of course they totally ignored Akai, Polyend, Roland and all the others offering sample slice. No they only noticed it after Ableton launched the Move. Right. Sure.
Digitakt I was released eight years ago. They waited eight years. They are afraid of competing with their own products over competitor products lol
You’re right about that part. Elektron do annoyingly leave certain features out of one machine if another one already has it.
The crossfader comes to mind. How cool would the Rytm be with the Octatrack crossfader and scenes? Instead you have those shitty unresponsive pads
That crossfader should be a signature thing for them across all their machines
> lmao they only did it cause Ableton Move did it first for a fraction of the price ?
Totally. They designed, coded, tested, documented and released a fully integrated sample slicing feature because of something that happened ~30 days ago. Totally.
You either work with the most amazing software development team ever assembled and have been lead to believe something like that is remotely possible or [personal attack preemptively not typed] and should maybe consider not commenting on the Internet for a bit.
You can develop a feature then just not merge it in until you need it. Anyways, Elektron is quite known to not bring in features that would make their products compete with their own products. They waited until the last possible minute to release this… Digitakt I was released in 2017, eight years ago.
Wow, thanks Elektron! 🙂
You can develop a feature but not merge it in. Elektron sat for 8 years in hopes people would buy multiple Elektron devices. They’re more concerned about competing against themselves than anything else.
Anyways, I am glad companies like Ableton, Polyend, Dirtywave, Sonicware, and more are forcing Elektron to become more innovative. They love dragging their feet after all and they have a huge fanbase that will defend the limited products to the death, fighting anyone who asks for basic features and then act like Elektron is the second coming of jesus when they finally implement it years later.
So many assumptions based on self-pity.
Somebody’s definitely spending too much time on forums 🙂
Why are you allowed to make assumptions, but I am not? Do you have specific insider information? Besides, this is the comment section of a blog post, so lower your standards for journalism my friend. 🙂
Again with the self-pity. I didn’t say you’re not allowed.
You sound like a Ableton Move fanboy
And?
And i was right 🙂
Rightfully so. I have owned a Digitone I & II and a Digitakt I & II myself. Ableton is doing what the people are asking for! 🙂
Your commenting is making me not want to use ableton move
I don’t care. Ableton and Elektron don’t pay me, it’s just my opinion. Do whatever you want with your money. 🙂
“Ableton is doing what the people are asking for”
You mean like Trump does?
Why did you insert politics into a discussion about music production hardware?
Because your point of view towards brand loyalty is similar to politics
I am loyal to no brand, I have different sorts of hardware across multiple companies that I go through on a regular basis. If you want me to bash Ableton, I think their Push 3 controller design is garbage and unusable. I’d go into more details, but it’s obvious you don’t care about any criticism and want to use your comments as an opportunity for snark.
Elektron can do better and they know. They choose not to.
id like to buy you a alcohol free beer

“You sound like a Ableton Move fanboy” is veering into personal attack/name calling territory.
We don’t want to have to nuke your comments from space. Keep things friendly and don’t waste the admin’s time.
You are right Synthhead, i shouldnt have assumed the person’s gender by saying “fanboy”. I apologize for that!
Elektron is sleeping, sleeping, sleeping…
the original elektron team is gone
and so is the elektron “magic”
What is it about the synthopia comment section? It’s worse than Reddit.
