Visco Drum Machine Now Also A Synthesizer

Forever 89 have released a major update to Visco, their sample-modeling drum machine for Mac & Windows, that adds synth capabilities.

Visco can now be used as a synth, and supports chromatic playback of any sound, using the new Tonal Mode.

With version 2, ‘Tonal Mode’ is now part of Visco.

You can now switch between:

  • Kit Mode – Classic drum sequencing with up to eight unique sounds.
  • Tonal Mode – Chromatically playable sound design with expanded control. This mode allows you to play any sound chromatically across the keyboard, transforming Visco into a synthesizer.

Pricing and Availability:

Visco 2.0 is available now, with an intro price of $/€99 (normally $/€139).

  1. I’m constantly seeing this synth in the targeted dads of my social media

That alone makes me dislike it

But also it looks like a purposeless 90s CGI Lawnmower man type interface

    1. Your brief irrational impressions of this plugin will result in you missing out on a game changing piece of code.

    2. Yeah, I wouldn’t base an impression off of a marketing algorithm. You’d be making a serious mistake. Try out the demo. In fact, I’d check out Knobcloud and you might score Visco for a little bit less than new.

    3. Alright, I thought that Battalion was my favorite drum synth and I was scared to try this because it sounds really good…..

  2. I have steinberg’s Backbone which is a bit similar (i guess). Backbone’s worflow is quite slower though. Working with the demo, i am getting a lot of crashes when trying to work ith the modulation matrix. The way you select sources, destinations, etc thru scrolling is highly unintuitive and it leads to these crashes of the plugin. I wonder if this is a demo issue.

    1. Backbone is nothing like Visco. Backbone is more for drum editing; Visco is definitely geared towards beat creation. Microtonic is a better comparison, but Visco is also sample-based, so I wouldn’t consider it a drum synth in the proper sense. It is 100% its own thing.

        1. This is true. But, based off of that comparison, a Korg Wavestation and Serum 2 are both using wavetable synthesis, but one would be amiss to think they are anything alike beyond that.
