Nine Inch Nails has released As Alive As You Need Me To Be, a preview of their upcoming soundtrack to Tron: Ares.
Tron: Ares is the third film in the franchise, following the original Tron from 1982, and the 2010 sequel, Tron: Legacy.
Nine Inch Nails has big shoes to fill, following the fantastic scores of the original, by Wendy Carlos, and the sequel by Daft Punk. But NIN’s Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have scored more than a dozen films, and their soundtracks for The Social Network and Soul both won Academy Awards for Best Original Score.
The new film follows a highly sophisticated program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.
“With Nine Inch Nails making the music, this installment will be a little grittier, a little bit more industrial,” notes Director Joachim Rønning. “It’s been important for me to contrast The Grid and the real world. In that sense, Nine Inch Nails lends itself perfectly into this new Tron world that we are creating.”
Tron: Ares is schedule for release in theaters October 10, 2025.
Sounds excellent 🙂
Obviously it is different to previous scores but it does retain that Tron vibe.
When did they go back to making butt rock?
Just then a tiny little dot caught my eye
It was just about too small to see
But I watched it way too long…
I was up above it!
Pretty humdrum song. Nin just aren’t what they used to be.
Unless TRON:ARES is a prequel to Legacy, then Quorra was the first digital being to emerge into the noumenal world.
Get ready for DX7s to go up in price
Yikes, not a fan of new NIN.
to me the above song sounds like their old stuff.
agree, there are a lot of downward spiral/broken vibes on it
Embarrassing vocals
he’s only done a career’s worth. great producer/arranger/songwriter!
Legends – Wendy C. – Daft Punk and this? I do Enjoy Trent R but I feel as though we should have had a proper Chemical Brother dab on this soundtrack…Its just not everlasting enough as it should be.
I don’t want to prejudge on one song without context, but I hope this isn’t the top track.
Its no Derezzed.
