  1. Well, it was nearly the last vintage synth left that no one had emulated in full. Now watch four of them appear within six months. It’ll be worth it. The thing sounds huge.

    1. No one has really emulated it beyond UVI Mission 6 and LFO Audio’s Andromeda A6, have they?

That said, given Isla Electronics/Instruments’ track record when it comes to product development (Feature bloating) and delivering products, I’m not sure I’d jump on the Caladan. I’m also a bit skeptical of the ecosystem approach with expansion boards, where you’re effectively committing yourself to buying into their platform and future products.

      1. Andreas; I hear you about the other two A6 plugs. They don’t sound half-bad at all, but they’re basically libraries with some courtesy controls. That’s perfectly legit, as some people mainly want the legendary aroma.

I started with several hardware synths, so I like to have all of the knobs present. Its easy to tweak a filter, but layering 3 LFOs so they work takes more sweat. I like to finesse it.

      1. Yeah, a different Brad did the Parva.

Agree that Isla takes forever to develop something; I put my Caldan pre-order in almost three years ago. Someday I’ll randomly have a package/new synth show-up. All good though. haha

The A6 add-on would be fantastic, but I don’t see anything on their site about it.

        1. The Parva was developed by Brad Ferguson. Different people as Puck noted. And the Parva was underdeveloped, poorly designed, and the hardware was third rate. Ferguson outsourced it to the cheapest suppliers in China. He had lived in China for many years and believed he could cover the gap in quality by…..right, you cannot, period.

  2. This sounds is freaking amazing! I’ve had a hardware A6 since 2004 and the presets sound virtually identical. I’m very impressed and am extremely curious on the price. Also wondering if colors are changeable. Very cool.
