Germany Rules Sampling In Hip Hop More Important Than Kraftwerk’s Rights

Germany’s highest court on Tuesday ruled against Kraftwerk in a case that pitted the samplers against the sampled. The ruling overturns a ban on the sale of the song Nur mir (Only to me), by music producer Moses Pelham and rapper Sabrina Setlur, which makes use of a sample from Kraftwerk’s Metal On Metal, from Trans-Europe Express. Germany’s Deutsche Welle reports:

Quadrophonic Synth Jam, Recorded With Harry The Dummy Head Binaural Microphone

Sunday Synth Jam: This video, via Wein Glas, captures an unusual binaural recording of a quadrophonic synth performance at the German Modular Synth Meet in Fischbach 2016. The Buchla 200e quadrophonic performance was recorded with ‘Harry’, right, a vintage dummy head binaural mic system, created by AKG. Headphones are required to reproduce the binaural effect.
