New Sounds For The Korg Prologue

Sound designer Scott McAuley shared this preview of a new sound library for the Korg Prologue.

The sound library is based on three custom Multi-Engine Oscillators that he created. They include:

  • A 4-Operator FM oscillator.
  • A Thru Zero FM Osc, with Wave A having 46 Waveforrms and Wave B having 44 waveforms all within the osc. For TZFM it has the the ability to send waveforms A to B or B to A, which gives “endless” sonic opportunities.
  • A dual Wave A&B, again each with 64 completely different waveforms, This Osc includes a Step Modulator which will step through the 64 waveforms per note played.

He says that the custom oscillators will be included in his Prologue Elixir Vol.1 Bank free of charge. and will vastly increase the sonic capabilities of the Prologue. See his site for details.

  1. I wish I picked up a Prologue 16 voice version 2 years ago when I saw it for $600….the build quality issues scared me away though.

    1. Never had any issues other than that the firmware had to be updated straight out the carton. It is a nice synth and the Logue SDK keeps on giving.

    2. If the mystery synth that Korg had under wraps at Superbooth is a successor to the Prologue, then it will likely be worth waiting for in lieu of a Prologue 16. If it’s a successor, Korg will likely have upgraded the Prologue’s shortcomings. Limited modulation routing, only a 12dB filter, etc. might be things of the past in a Prologue successor.

      1. it’s certainly an updated prologue with XD-ism’s. the spec’s for the digital engine will match the current NTS-1 mk2. the real question for dev’s updating their offerings, will be whether it’s the same prologue/XD cpu/voice architecture, or a microkorg2 like multithreaded environment. the former will vastly eases porting, whilest the latter presents many issues i prefer not coding for. kickers like this usually follow the same path.

  2. “Wave A having 46 Waveforrms and Wave B having 44 waveforms all within the osc.” since docs are lacking, this sounds like SDK’s built in firmware wavecycles, not included in an oscillator – not that there’s anything wrong with that, but it would be nice to know before buying.
