Miltone has announced that the 4Exp – a four-voice expansion module designed as a companion to the legendary Oberheim FVS-1 synthesizer – is now available.
Used as a standalone, it operates as four independent monophonic dual-VCO voices. Paired with an original FVS-1 (upgrades and extra wiring required to connect the two units together), it extends the system to eight voices of polyphony.
Each voice routes through the Output module, which provides per-voice volume and pan, stereo Left/Right outputs, and two headphone outputs.
Per voice:
- Two discrete VCOs
- Hard sync
- Two-pole state-variable filter
- Triangle LFO
- Two ADS envelopes
- External input
- CV/Gate and MIDI control
Miltone describes the 4Exp as a “no-compromise” design. It is built using discrete circuitry, assembled by hand in their workshop in Paris.
For the first batch, several customization option are available :
- Tolex or Aluminum chassis
- Black or Cream module finish
Pricing and Availability:
The 4Exp is available now to pre-order:
- 4Exp Aluminum — €9,990 ex. VAT (shipping not included)
- 4Exp Tolex Edition — €11,990 ex. VAT (shipping not included)
The only comment I have is a long exhale thru my mouth. I am sure there might be customers for this one. I will go the B path, if I ever decide this sound is in my future. :]
2 grand extra for a Tolex case. Toppy.
I am sure this will sound much better than the B clone…but will it sound 20x better?
Yet another antiquated 70’s poly synth
at completely rip-off prices. No, thanks!
how could you possibly justify this? what about the components or build are valued at $20,000
