EastWest Introduces An All-In-One Composition Instrument For Film And Game Scoring

EastWest has introduced Hollywood Scoring Tools, an all-in-one tool for film and game soundtrack scoring.

The instrument includes more than 320 Scores created by composers from EastWest and Sonuscore, with each Score containing four arrangements that can be switched during performance.

The library includes 164 instruments across five categories: orchestral, synthesizers, band, world instruments, and choir and percussion. The arrangements cover styles and genres ranging from cinematic action, science fiction and horror to documentary, drama, romance and hybrid electronic music.

Features:

  • Each Score contains up to ten instrument parts, with musical patterns and dynamics already arranged for performance from a MIDI keyboard.
  • Four musical sections—Intro, Main A, Main B and Outro—can be switched using keyboard keyswitches. An additional ending keyswitch stops the arrangement with a final chord.
  • The Score Browser allows users to search and filter arrangements by genre, style, time signature and other criteria.
  • The instrument library includes 57 orchestral instruments, 43 synthesizers, 20 band instruments, 34 world instruments, and 10 choir and percussion instruments.
  • Individual instrument slots can be replaced, allowing users to customize arrangements with alternative sounds and articulations.
  • Each instrument slot has its own mixer controls, including volume, pan, octave, reverb send, solo and mute, along with dynamic range settings controlled by the mod wheel.
  • Instrument processing includes attack and release controls, three-band parametric EQ and three insert effects slots. The global effects section offers convolution and algorithmic reverb.
  • Each of the ten instrument slots has an independent arpeggiator with adjustable note order, rate, velocity and custom patterns.
  • Users can edit musical patterns, adjust time signatures and pattern lengths, and choose half-time, normal or double-time playback.
  • Custom arrangements can be saved as User Scores and organized alongside the factory content.
  • Performances can be dragged into a DAW as multitrack MIDI files, with individual tracks corresponding to the instrument slots.
  • Hollywood Scoring Tools runs inside EastWest’s Opus software and supports macOS and Windows.

Pricing & Availability:

Hollywood Scoring Tools is available now for $299, reduced from its regular $399 price. A limited-time $199 crossgrade is offered to eligible owners of Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition, Hollywood Fantasy Orchestra and Sonuscore’s The Score.
