Smithson Martin Emulator DJ Controller (Demo Video)

This video, by skratchworx, takes a look at the Smithson Martin Emulator, at the 2011 NAMM Show.

The Emulator is immediately impressive as a visual platform for electronic music performance – but is limited to Traktor running on Windows, at this point. The Smithson Martin Emulator will be a lot more interesting if they can make it cross-platform and make it compatible with a broad range of software.

In talking to CEO Alan Smithson, it’s clear that they are already thinking about these things, but he also didn’t want to make any vaporware promises.

The Emulator is available now, starting at $3,875.

  1. DJ's that use Windows-based systems while playing live? Surely kinds of folks like that only exist in fragments of our imagination?

But in all seriousness, what you get for almost 4 grand isn't a whole lot, unfortunately. Why they decided to make a Windows version first is completely beyond me.

  2. Yeah!

Anybody else feel like this is like the Lemur was 5 years ago?

Cool, pioneering, but destined to be blown away when the technology goes mainstream……
