Plogue has released Alter/Ego a free vocal synthesis plugin, for Mac & Windows, that is tailored for musical needs.
To use, type in your lyrics, and then play on your MIDI keyboard. It’s a true synthesizer, the sound can be extensively modified for easy and expressive performances.
Daisy is the first voice bank available and is free. Additional voice banks are planned.

Awesome!. Working on a “select your alter ego” song already, lol.
High five !
Plogue is so awesome. Chipspeech is great and offering this new one for free is great of them. Now bring on Chipsounds v3.0!
Mont_Real, shout out to my home boys! Bravo! Can’t wait to try this!!! And a great name too…:

Just too cool for words!
Trying to use in Ableton Live. Installed solid. Not sure where to place Daisy folder. It’s reacting not making a sound.
Really appreciate any input. It looks cool. I’m usually not having issues with this.
there is a youtube video on how to install the Daisy pack on their website. but it’s really easy. what i did is made a folder inside the Alter/Ego folder and called it Daisy and extracted the ZIP’d Daisy pack into that folder. then all you have to do is open Ableton and load the plugin, once the plugin window is open just drag the “Daisy.bank.XML” file ONTO the VST window and give it a second or two to load. done
Now time to recreate the Portal 2 ending song 😀
nothing registered to read file extension
I’m lost. Trying import as video advises.
No problems here with Ableton 9 (OSX 10.6.8). Keep the Daisy folder in ANY folder you won’t remove or replace by accident. Run the AlterEgo.app as a standalone (you will be asked to set the MIDI/audio adjustments in preferences) and follow the video to install the Daisy preset. Once everything is working fine, quit the app and run Ableton. The Alter Ego vst should load then with the Daisy presets installed.
That must be it – I only installed the 64bit vst… thank you A.C.!
Just tried and can confirm – you need to do it from the standalone version, when ready you can use the vst!
Dragging the xml file from the separate daisy bank into the UI worked for me (standalone version on mac).
Thanks Plogue! You had me at sforzando.
Plogue plugs are rad. I use Chipcrusher all the time, especially to make some wicked sounding “industrial” machine percussion. It sounds great on drums. Alter ego is pretty neat, I was looking for something like this forever.
can I put my Plague into my logic pr pro tools DAW and use it there? Or how would I use it to be recoreded via mic?
