Plogue has released Alter/Ego a free vocal synthesis plugin, for Mac & Windows, that is tailored for musical needs.

To use, type in your lyrics, and then play on your MIDI keyboard. It’s a true synthesizer, the sound can be extensively modified for easy and expressive performances.

Daisy is the first voice bank available and is free. Additional voice banks are planned.

    1. there is a youtube video on how to install the Daisy pack on their website. but it’s really easy. what i did is made a folder inside the Alter/Ego folder and called it Daisy and extracted the ZIP’d Daisy pack into that folder. then all you have to do is open Ableton and load the plugin, once the plugin window is open just drag the “Daisy.bank.XML” file ONTO the VST window and give it a second or two to load. done

Now time to recreate the Portal 2 ending song 😀

    1. No problems here with Ableton 9 (OSX 10.6.8). Keep the Daisy folder in ANY folder you won’t remove or replace by accident. Run the AlterEgo.app as a standalone (you will be asked to set the MIDI/audio adjustments in preferences) and follow the video to install the Daisy preset. Once everything is working fine, quit the app and run Ableton. The Alter Ego vst should load then with the Daisy presets installed.

  1. Plogue plugs are rad. I use Chipcrusher all the time, especially to make some wicked sounding “industrial” machine percussion. It sounds great on drums. Alter ego is pretty neat, I was looking for something like this forever.
