Roland JD-Xi Synthesizer Review

The latest video from Woody Piano Shack offers a review of the Roland JD-Xi synthesizer.

Video Summary:

In this Roland JD-Xi review I will highlight my top ten pros and cons of the synthesizer after owning and using it for about a year. There will be plenty of audio clips to demo many of the sequencer patterns and sounds such as drums, pads, pianos etc in a variety of genres.

If you’ve used the Roland JD-Xi, leave a comment and share your thoughts on it!

  1. Laughing about the Stickers.
The layout design of the Roland JD must be the most stupid in the last 20 years. Small red writing on glossy surface – seems like there was a competition between the Roland designers “What is the most unreadable panel layout” (and most difficult to clean)

    1. Definitely some questionable choices. The 64 step sequencer only shows 16 steps at a time. Seeing the next 16 steps is a shift+arrow parameter requiring 2 hands (or a spider-stretch between your thumb and pinky). The shift button is in the worst place imaginable. It should be more centrally located, or their should be multiple shift buttons.

    2. For cleaning Roland shinny black plastic I recommend Stoner brand glass wipes, its what I use on mine. And yeah its VERY hard to read both the XI and XA, especially with ageing eyes like mine, but you sort of learn to memorize where everything is lol.

  2. I OWN ONE YOU CAN MUTE THE DRUM TRACK WITH OUT TURNING IT DOWN BUT YOU STILL HAVE TO HIT THE KEY OF SAID DRUM,WHICH MAY PUT A EXTRA HIT LIVE IN YOUR SET
