Sunday Synth Jam: This video captures a large-format modular synth (Synthesizers.com) track by Paolo Di Nicolantonio of SynthMania.
Here’s what he has to say about the technical details of the track:
The Synthesizers.com modular provides syn bass sequence (Q119), 3-osc lead, and sequenced filter noise (Q960); Cubase Pro 10 provides the drums, strings, brass, electric piano, organ, choir, and perc.
I played all this in real time with my hands, no sequencing done other than the bass line and filter noise on the DotCom modular.
While I do enjoy the usual abstractions and sequencer loops, its refreshing to hear someone use a modular as a band member. This feels far more enjoyably organic than pieces that are 12 synths synced to one clock. Look maw, real-time modulation by hand, too! Nice work, Paolo. It has rockin’-good muscle.
