Making A MIDI-Controlled Lithophone (Stone Marimba)

Experimental electronic artist Jimi Tenor shared this video, which documents making a MIDI-controlled lithophone.

A lithophone is an instrument made of rocks – in this case, a sort of stone marimba. Tenor plays the lithophone using sequenced Polyend Perc percussion controllers.

The video also features Tenor’s composition Aittalito, recorded at a summer cottage next to lake Päijänne.

  1. Very creative. I really like that the video shows his process and the equipment he used.

    Filmed in Finland.

  2. I love this guy. A very inspirational video and some nice music too. I must go bang some things this weekend.
