  1. Given that harmonicas are relatively inexpensive, it is surprising how rarely I hear them out in the wild. Could just be that I don’t run in the social circles where people play lots of harmonica music.

    Off-topic, I so love the sound of bass (double bass?) harmonica, but they are expensive a.f. I’d love to find either a really well done sample library, or better yet, an accurate modeler of same. I’ve heard a couple libraries, but their quirks weren’t to my liking.

  2. I think harmonicas lost favor over time because electronics are more popularly fascinating. There is an inherent dislike of reed instruments by some. Bagpipes are on my love-list, but not on that of many others.

    That makes this thing interesting. How many players will drop that kind of money on a MIDI harmonica? How will it hold up over time? Will people fully “get it” if you use one to play a brass patch? Above all, where the hell does your spit go as you play? No one wants a case of MIDI ‘monica Mold, ugh.
