Teenage Engineering has introduced a major firmware update for its sampling workstation.
The free update adds multiple new features, including resampling, song mode, increased polyphony and more.
Here’s what’s new in K.O. II version 2.0:
- Resampling: Stack effects, make a beat from a beat or combine samples, all using the new resampler.
- Song mode: Song mode lets you chain scenes together to make complete compositions.
- Hands-Free Sampling: Sometimes you need both hands to play an instrument, and you want to sample it. Just hit shift and hold a pad, and the K.O. II will do the rest.
- MIDI side-chaining: Sidechain will duck the volume of the bass when the kick comes in
- Increased polyphony: The K.O. II goes from 12 mono/6 stereo sounds to up to 16 mono and 12 stereo sounds.
- Larger note intervals: The K.O. II now supports 1/1, 1/2 and 1/4 timing intervals.
- MIDI Through: The K.O. II now supports MIDI Through, so it can pass notes along to other machines.
Here’s the official video intro:
See the Teenage Engineering site for details.
Much needed. However, I recommend saving an additional $150 and getting an Ableton Move instead. 64 stereo sample polyphony (or can use built in synths). Intuitive step sequencer. Good effects. Much better build quality. Has 64 GB internal storage. Never felt like I am gonna run out. Bi-monthly updates.
Teenage Engineering should have pulled all the mark ones and then lied about the product cancellation. If they can scare the synth buyer into the new price from rising used markets, then they can reintroduce the product at a higher price for the mark two. Manipulate the consumer for higher prices.
Then mock and any complaints as fascism
There is a mark one?
Such an unintelligible comment. What exactly are you saying?
Also, please explain the syntax of this: “Then mock and any complaints as fascism”. Then mock and any — what does that mean?
Nonsense unbacked by anything factual
these guys should stick to this level of the market
Why not both?
because their attempts at high-end expensive synths are complete failures in terms of value
thats why
It seems the majority of people don’t agree with you. The OP-1 has been the best-selling synth for the past 10 years in a row, and that’s what made them so famous.
agreed. you can fault the products, but not the sales! lol.
While I support the fact that the high end TE products have clearly sold well and aren’t failures, what sales figures support the OP-1 being a world leading product for a decade?
Not hating, just curious. I may have contributed to that decade, bought my OP-1 back in 2012 when the price matched the value.
According to Reverb it was the best selling synth for 6 consecutive years up until 2023. This is quite surprising, especially considering its price. While these numbers may not be global it’s still unquestionably a huge success and I’m sure sales in europe were also high.
That’s fair, Reverb’s a good source. What gets me about that was the OP1 was first released in 2011 & it’s sales topped ranks from 2018 to 2023.
Not many synth manufacturers keep instruments in production for more than a decade & I can’t think of any that has a sales peak so late in a product’s life cycle. Impressive work by their marketing division.
I think it was around that time that more Americans sold their guitars to buy synths…
I am sure the OP1 has sold quite well but I am quire sure it is nowhere near being the best selling synth of the last ten years.
I was surprised too.
You too poor to afford these, perhaps? It’s the only way your comment makes sense.
I hope this will release for the medieval as well as they seem to be the same thing other than the samples/user sample size and a few other small differences.
Beep boop beep
i see you Beep, and raise you two Bloops!
