iPad DAW Auria is currently on sale for 50% off the regular price.

Auria is a 48-track digital recording system, designed from the ground up for the iPad.

Developer Wavemachine Labs has announced an update, Auria Pro, that will add MIDI sequencing. Auria users will be able to upgrade at a discounted price.

  1. I am amazed at how powerful and well thought out Auria is, and the update is going to make it a pro-level DAW.

    One caveat, though, is that I’d recommend an iPad 4 or better. It can run on slower iPads, but I saw the developer mention somewhere that iPad 4 would probably be the minimum for the new version.

  2. I expect this is a kind of neutral move. If the pro version is $50, and the upgrade price is $25, then selling the old version for $25 just allows people to jump on and get a little bit acquainted before going to the pro version. If they don’t go pro, they probably wouldn’t have anyway.

  3. Will Auria Pro be the new standard format of the app, with a discounted upgrade for current Auria owners? Or will the pro upgrade be an IAP for Auria, making the complete package $75 when not on sale?
