Behringer Shares Pro VS Mini Audio Demo, But Still No Ship Date

Behringer today shared a video demo for the upcoming Pro VS Mini synthesizer, showcasing a range of sounds.

The Pro VS is a four-voice mini-synth with a voice architecture that’s inspired by the classic Sequential Circuits Prophet VS Digital Vector Synthesizer. It offers 127 wave tables, 32 presets plus sequencer, arpeggiator, and display with oscilloscope.

Pricing and Availability:

The company originally introduced the Pro VS in February of 2022. More than a year later, though, the Behringer Pro VS is still in limbo, with them saying that “once we receive chips, it’ll go straight into production.”

Behringer is targeting a retail price of $99 USD for the Pro VS Mini.

    1. Is anyone really surprised at these development’s¿That it ain’t even close tooo the Prophet VS not even a trickle, i friggin’ had one¡there’s no way b-ear-ringer with it’s smokiest mirrors of shiftyness can get anymore shadily redonkulus, this thing’s a clone halfling or a bogus knockoff clown hack with not even a fake red nose and for a only a C-note¿no wishin’ here so don’t fall in the water lookin’ for quarters, this piece of kit is pretty much (sh)IT sorry kid’s¡!again what a joke¡folks

      1. Can you explain what isn’t the same as the original prophet VS? except that its paraphonic (you can poly chain them to have true polyphony.

        1. (1) The Prophet VS varies the sample rate of the oscillator to change pitch. This is the key to it’s biting bass sounds and bright high-end. The Beh unit uses a form of sample rate conversion to change pitch. (2) The Prophet VS used custom Curtis sample & hold chips to mix the 4 oscillators in each voice together. The Beh instrument mixes the 4 oscillators digitally.

The end result is that even if this thing uses the same single cycle waves as the Sequential synth, it’s not going to have the same magical sound that results from the weird and wonderful imperfections of the oscillators.

        2. I have a pre-production unit, next to an original prophet vs. In a closed eyes test I cannot tell the difference, in fact I can’t see either of them because my eyes are closed. Might as well build a cardboard box and call it an oak wooden chest. I particularly like the Keynes, reminds me of those Fatar semiweighted key beds

    2. would rather have gadi. trey can’t friggin type is its life depended on it.
on topic: i put a double secret pre-order in march of last year. psyched to meld this into the Poly D – another 4 voice paraphonic keyboard.

  1. I’m getting this, but the joystick mixing of 4 wavetables is a big feature of the VS, and yet they don’t even touch the joystick in the demo

  2. Vital info: It’s paraphonic, with a single filter shared by all four voices. That’s why the demo repeatedly shows a giant hand slowly turning the filter cutoff knob. It would make far more sense to implement 4 digital filters in firmware, but this way they can tout a “genuine” analog filter on all of these inexpensive boxes.

    1. fwiw, analog filter with digital sounds better to me than digital through and through. prologue works this way and sound fantastic with digital sources like wavetables, or karplus strong. paraphonic is fine for what I’m considering – mating it to another 4 oscillator paraphonic.

      1. uh no. there’s only one filter per unit. you can’t turn paraphonic into polyphonic like this unless you buy one per voice. and that’s nutz.

  3. for those can actually read what Behringer wrote: the ProVS is “in stock and immediately shipping from our factory” – which *is* their shipping announcement. this means they have started to provide units to super partners. the first customer ship units should appear within a month in either .EU or the un-US.

as a bench mark, my Toro came within a couple of weeks of this identical announcement type.

  4. Those fingers can barely twist those pots, I will skip this one. Playing with those live on stage would be very inconvenient!
