  1. Once again, the examples are sounds, I would NEVER use. Not one example of the analog filters, really good leads or pads, just retread of common sounds we’ve all heard before from other synths, especially Roland. I hope this wasn’t designed to sell someone on this fabulous synth, it short sells it in a big way.

    1. You gotta load a close-enough patch and tweak the knobs so it fits the music you’re looking for. That includes stuff like filters to get the bands you’re interested in, adjusting modulation and effect rate timing so it’s in time with your music, etc. I don’t think I have ever used a patch on any synth as is. You gotta make it work!

Anyways, this thing is overpriced. Waiting for the eventual Korg blowout sale in a year haha

    2. It’s designed to sell presets.

If you want to know how the synth sounds, it’s easy to install it on your computer. Personally, I think it sounds great as a soft synth – one of the best on the market.

  2. I’m with Joe & Walking. Its a beefy synth that feels like all of the others in its line in one box. I love surfing presets when I buy a set of new sounds. Its usually a great lesson in the voice and how to tweak it. I also saw a good sound comparison between the hardware and software versions. They’re indistinguishable. It covers a lot of ground well.

  3. I think it’s a great synth and the whole line of their “just get the module”-synths from the last years is so criminally overlooked. Having said that, I’d probably go for the modwave and the opsix instead. They are properly priced (now) and again: Just don’t get the key-versions, because they really suck. With the mp it’s better, but as complex as the modwave already is, do you really want to add even another 2 layers? I

  4. An overpriced synth further demonstrating the Japanese companies’ obsession with not actually giving the consumer what it wants. After a Boog that just stopped working, I wouldn’t buy anything else from Mr B, but at least his version actually sounds like the original and isn’t super expensive. I think Roland traded on the notion that analog synths could no longer be done, multiple companies have proved this is not the case. Korg has a recent legacy of successful production of analog synths so why go with VA? Perhaps they will entice me into parting with my money by making the Multi/poly m. I just can’t resist spending my hard earned cash on something that is 86% of the size of the other version that I didn’t want to buy.

  5. This is a fantastic synth with awesome sounds providing just about everything a consumer would need, After building my first synth back in the 1970’s and the array of synths from so many manufacturers that I have bought, sold and kept over the decades since, this one is a keeper for me.
