Korg iWavestation Update Adds AUv3 Support, Drops Inter-App Audio & Audiobus

Korg has updated iWavestation – its virtual instrument based on the hardware Wavestation synthesizer – to add AUv3 support.

With AUv3 compatibility, you can now use iWavestation within Apple’s Logic Pro, GarageBand, and other third-party iOS music production apps. With this update, Korg has also dropped support for Inter-App Audio and Audiobus.

Here’s what’s new in Korg iWavestation 1.2.0:

  • AUv3 is now supported.
  • Improved the tempo settings menu so that you can enter values manually by long-pressing.
  • Ended support for Inter-App Audio and Audiobus.
  • Various other tweaks have been made to improve stability.

  1. I wrestled with Korg’s original Wavestation plug and never quite found the fun spot. Too fidgety! As a big Korg fan, I was giving myself the stinkeye over it, because the sound is amazing. The Wavestate appeared and led the whole concept to a much more approachable form. That’s what I needed. I’m still pleased to see this update, because its a unique synth that deserves to persist.

  2. Now Korg needs to update the AU/VST plug-in for computers so it has the same interface – because the visualization in the iOS app makes wave sequencing much easier to understand. And the plug-ins existing interface is old, tiny, and would benefit from modernization.
