I Am Audio has introduced I Am Choir, a new vocal processing plugin that transforms a monophonic vocal recording into choir-style performances, using AI voice models trained on recordings of real singers.
Rather than functioning as a traditional harmonizer or chorus effect, the plugin generates ensemble vocal performances that follow the source vocal’s lyrics, melody, and timing. The initial release includes Gospel Choir, Children’s Choir, and ‘Gang Vocals’ models, with additional voice models planned.
The company states that the voice models were developed in collaboration with participating singers, who were compensated for their recordings and receive royalties from sales of the product.

It works beautifully and the singers get royalties. That’s AI being used properly.
imho it’s too late for Ai to be used properly, first they have to clean up the overly saturated improper use for it to make sense because right now it’s like walking into a shop that sells poison and seeing a small vile of liquid in the corner on a shelf with a tag that reads this vile does not contain poison. There could be the cure for all disease inside but if that is the case it’s in the wrong shop.
I gave it a try., looks interesting. It’s geared toward one application, get a vocal track and it creates a choir using the original recording as a starting point. I got good results, and not so good results…. One restriction is that the Choir will simply generate what the original recording does. If you want the choir to do Ahhhs. or Mmms, or whatever in a section of a song, you’re going to have to record the lead vocal do that and then run it through this plug-in again and wait for the results. Not sure about that… Also a bit limited at the moment in how the choir can be customized. You get Gospel, Children (not that convincing) and Shouts, not possible to change the ensemble, say start with a smaller one and make it bigger later on in a song.
Good concept nonetheless… it runs locally in the computer and not in some AI server somewhere, that’s another positive.
I am evaluating now, and the voices seem very artificial/robot. Perhaps it’s the source material, so I will keep trying mainly for the sake of the choir members. But, it deserves to be tested out with a variety of vocal material.
