Sampleson has introduced Wavefinder, a desktop audio search application designed to help you locate sounds in large sample libraries.
Rather than relying on filenames or manually assigned tags, Wavefinder analyzes audio files and ranks them by similarity to a text description or reference recording.
The software runs its AI model locally, with no audio uploads or recurring subscription fees.
Features:
- Wavefinder offers two search methods: users can describe a sound in natural language or drag an audio reference into the application to find similar recordings.
- Text-based searches let users describe characteristics such as texture, atmosphere, room sound, or performance gesture. Wavefinder ranks matching files from the indexed library by sonic similarity.
- Audio-reference search lets users supply a recording and locate other files with similar characteristics, useful for finding related samples or sounds within a large collection.
- The application builds and stores an index locally on the user’s computer, including files in nested folders. Libraries can be re-indexed when new audio is added.
- Wavefinder’s AI model runs locally – audio files are never uploaded.
- Searches are unlimited, with no subscription, token system, or additional usage charges.
- Supported audio formats include WAV, AIFF, AIF, FLAC, OGG, and MP3.
- The software is available as a standalone application for macOS and Windows, as well as plug-ins for compatible DAWs.
Pricing & Availability:
Wavefinder is available now for $29.00 USD (introductory price; regularly $49.00 USD, with the launch offer running through November 15, 2026).
