At Moogfest 2016, Critter & Guitari created a ‘Musical Playground’ for attendees, inside a geodesic dome. The ‘Dome Zone’ was made in collaboration with musicians George Langford of Javelin and Christopher Sean Powell of Man Man & Spaceship Aloha. Xen-Arts has introduced IVOR2, a major update to their free Ivor microtonal virtual analog synthesizer for Linux & WIndows. IVOR2 is designed to be microtonal sound-designer’s virtual analog synthesizer, with a workflow tailored to microtonal synthesis. It’s also designed to be an educational tool for learning about subtractive sound synthesis and musical instrument intonation (microtuning and xenharmonics).
Sunday Synth Jam: This video captures a cover of Radiohead’s How To Disappear Completely, by Allison Brown. The performance is much less ‘synthy’ than many of the videos that we feature, but it showcases interesting use of the Therevox ET-4 synthesizer. In this context, the Therevox plays a role similar to steel guitar on many country/folk recordings.
frequencies (a / continuum) is an audiovisual installation, created by Nicolas Bernier, that lets users explore acoustic additive synthesis.
