“Non-music fuckhead” DJ Steve Porter probably “dicked around on a Macintosh” to come up with this remix of Henry Rollins’ rant against Jungle Trance Hip Hop Fuckin’ Shit Music.
Henry Rollins makes a colorful case against over-produced popular electronic music.
But Steve Porter totally turns Rollins’ rant inside out, turning it into a track ready to be put on a white label and sent to the clubs.
Think we have to chalk this battle up to Porter.

i think the real question is who would win in a fight between techno viking and henry rollins
keep in mind techno viking doesn't have search and destroy tattooed on his back
techno viking! obviously. The older henry rollins gets the more of a jackass he becomes.
Hahahaha, omg that was one of the funniest things I've seen in a while… Thx
Hoisted with his own petard…..
the irony.
Speaking of "non-musical fuckheads", can anybody actually remember the last time Rollins released any music? Seems like he's just been on these long, self-congratulatory "spoken word" tours forever… or showing up in ultra-low-budget crap direct to video movies.
Ah, nostalgia… remember when Black Flag was actually worth listening to?
the was pretty funny but he rights dj arent musicans sry guys u just got to face facts i know u guys just dont copy and paste loops and throw a couple scratches but unless u can play an actually insturment or can compose a whole song without using anybody else shit and u came up with it all yourself than your a real muscian
whoa whoa whoa, then what about people like me that make their own "sounds" in programs like Max/MSP or PD?!?
Are you telling me Aphex Twin or Autechre aren't musicians?!? Both of which make their own sounds…
Just because you don't like the process or method doesn't mean said method is FALSE. It just means different floats for different boats in different moats!
And, btw I do play the guitar and keyboards as well but I don't think that in and of itself makes me anything besides a person who plays guitar and keyboards.
I do agree about creating your own songs and compositions… But that CAN be done in many ways not just a couple… Broaden your horizons and open your mind a bit, you might just learn something.
Most guitar players are just sampling other people's playing anyway… stupid issue…
So if I beat some knives and forks off some pans, thats music. But if I use somebody elses knives and forks off some drums in a sequencer thats not music? hmmmm!

Deep!
Modeselektor chopped up the Rollins bit in an intro to their Boogie Bytes dj mix on bpitch a while back
I used to dig Rollins. Jay Leno had him make a quick stop by and chat one night, very entertaining. However I think the 70's was Rock n' Roll as it was destined to be, and fuck Rollins' "anti-drug" stance. Its okay to fight, spit, destroy stuff but drugs? Whoa, Henry no take 'em drugs. I have, and still do, and I create music in my studio, though I lack funds to promote my CD – sort of Alice In Chains / Megadeth style. Henry got funds, but no songs. No legacy. "Yeah, well he was in Black Flag. So what. Did they influence an entire generation like CSN&Y? Led Zeppelin? Aerosmith? Those bands now carry a whole new legion of fans. Henry makes a stupid video, as does DJ Steve Porter. Both are what is wrong with today's music. Got time for six pack abs? Then you ain't got time to make good music.
Hey, cool. Playing pots and pans, throw in various sizes and shapes of Tupperware, record and add a TON of LSD effects and who knows? It'll be called Kitchen Khz. Like New Age, Garage etc. This new sound, Kitchen Khz. Add violins, mandolins, guitars, whatever. And lyrics, JUMP BACK, lyrics like: "I……..I bottled and canned / hired some dupes and life was oh so grand, c'os I…………..I waited, whhhhh, whhhhh, whack a whack a nipple whack and do some kinda chemical via sterile needle jack / push it in pull it out / make you wanna shout yeah I……………I………….I……………rue the day / hired some dupes to make my freeky products pay.
clearly money and success have diminished Rollin's perception of what underground, experimentalism, status quo, DIY, sampling, John cage, blah blah blah actually means anymore.
He is just jealous that people are getting off to things that he can't relate to.
Would you rather go see a comedy show / spoken word for Henry Rollins or a DAft PUnk concert????
No need to answer that….hahahahha
clearly money and success have diminished Rollin's perception of what underground is in the 2000s
he isjust healous people are gettting off to things he can't relate too.
Would you rather see a Henry Rollins act or go to a Daft Punk show????
no need to answer that hahahaha
he has a good point, i think people are getting the wrong idea about what rollins has said. he didnt say "all electronic music sucks" hes just dissing the "non music fuckheads" (the namecalling is uncalled for but hes talking about the people that go to clubs to hear "BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!" and call it music, and the people that make simple noises and have the nerve to call themselves artists). i had a PS1 game called MUSIC and i could make better sounds than a lot of what i hear today.
PS he said "shitty drugs" not all drugs, im a ganjaman myself. and to all rollins haters : you can go fuck yourself, its comedy so grow some balls and stop bitching. Black flag is one of the best punk acts ever (even though thats just my opinion lol). and for the record i love ambience and can get into almost anything
Fully agree with Black Flag assessment. Also fully agree with your pointing out the limits of what he actually said. But… I happen to know he's down on ALL drugs (yes, the ganja included). Hey, that's his trip, whatever. It certainly won't affect how I feel about Black Flag (or even early Rollins Band… I remember seeing them at Lollapalooza 1 back in 1991, and they kicked ass live)
