Behringer Pro-1 Hands-On Demo

In this video, Divkid Ben Wilson shares a quick demo of the Behringer Pro-1 synthesizer, a modern clone in Eurorack format of the classic Sequential Circuits Pro-1 synthesizer.

Here’s what Wilson has to say about it:

Last year I was testing the Behringer Pro-1 / Pro One prototype and decided to (with permission of course) film some of the process and make a demo of the synth / sound elements and make some melodic sounds to sit the thing in context as well.

This is a prototype, some things may change, they may have already changed, but sonically I understand this is finished (or very close to).

    1. If by “killing it right now” you mean more or less replicating grandpa’s ancient synths: yeah, sure. If you’re into innovation however, there are better places to look for it.

      1. Please show me the vintage Neutron!
Or maybe the vintage deepmind 6, 12 or desktop?

Take a look at the thomann charts or everywhere else and you will see BEHRINGER IS KILLING IT if you want or not…

      2. I have been waiting for this one specifically, my money is down. Best modulations section in any monosynth, cheapest way in to real prophet signature sounds.

    2. I have a pro 1 and a pro 2 ! Lucky me eh !
This sounds nothing like a pro 1 – ok bits are there – I suggest one listens to Upstairs at Eric’s by Yazoo to hear the pro 1 in its full splender
Ok you want copies of vintage synths ? that’s what you’ll get – copies !!!!

      1. ok so you have the original…how is it different then exactly Will. Explain the differences….should be easy to do then?

    1. I haven’t had my original Pro 1 under my fingers in a long time, but for me, this demo does indeed reveal a sound very close to the original, IMHO

      1. I can’t put my finger on it, I mean the frequency modulation in this video doesn’t sound bad at all but it seems a little off to me but the filter modulation later in the video is close again. Anyway, I sold my Pro-One a few months ago and it was pretty beat up, maybe that’s why. I’m looking forward to the Behringer pro 1 anyway 🙂

  1. As a former owner of an original SCI Pro 1, this is the first Behringer synth that’s exciting to me. (Same for the Odyssey, whenever Behringer gets around to that). Good demo, great sound, finish this baby and get it to market!!

  2. Have they solved the retriggering problems of the Model D yet – coz if they apply with this one as well, then it’s useless to me.

    1. The default envelope behavior on the D is exactly the way a real Minimoog works (which is why artists have always criticized it for that). If you mean the alternate re-triggering mode, then yeah, it should behave as expected with the most recent patch.

  3. Never played a pro one, so i can’t vouch for its authenticity. But it sounds impressive regardless, with all the aggressive character and John Carpenteresque menace I admire in classic Sequential synths.
