Sound Magic Releases Free ‘Violin One’ Physical Modeling Instrument Plugin For Windows

Sound Magic has introduced Violin One, a free physical modeling violin virtual instrument plugin for Windows. A Mac version is also in the works.

Here’s what Sound Magic has to say about Violin One:

“Violin One combines physical modeling with behavior modeling. This results in a smaller footprint and excellent playability.

A standout feature of Violin One is its support for MIDI 2.0 and MPE, offering users an entirely new way to interact with the instrument through their devices. The higher resolution of MIDI 2.0 provides more precise control over the sound, along with numerous advantages when used with the latest MIDI 2.0-compatible keyboards and controllers.

Violin One is a virtual instrument with great potential, and we’re committed to continuously improving it. We greatly value user feedback—it’s the driving force behind the evolution of Violin One.”

We don’t see any audio demos at the Sound Magic site at this time, but here’s a demo via Elektronick Musick:

Violin One is available now as a free download for Windows.

    1. I downloaded their zip, and there are macOS folders with binaries in them. They are vst3 from what I see, not AU. Not sure if they work, but they are there. Those are exported by default from the SynthEdit product.

They used SynthEdit to create the plugin. The MIDI 2 stuff in the copy is really about what SynthEdit does **internally**. Good for future-proofing.
