Expressive E has introduced Soliste, an MPE-ready solo string suite, featuring 4 physically-modeled instruments (Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass), designed for real-time performance and deep expression, especially with Osmose, Touché, and other MPE controllers.
It sounds impressive. Check out the demo videos, embedded below, and share your thoughts in the comments!
Here’s the official introduction video:
Soliste builds on their Arché collection, but rebuilt from the ground up with:
- A new sound engine
- Smart gesture-based controls (vibrato, bowing, tremolo, etc.)
- Full customizability
- Total integration with Osmose, Touché, and legacy MIDI gear
Pricing and Availability:
Soliste is available now, with an introductory deal of 40% off.
I’d be interested in hearing how this compares to SWAM Audio Modeling. The price is certainly more appealing for this offering from Expressive E and I really like what they’re doing in the MPE world.
Is avante garde?
Yes?
No?
Maybe just a little bit
Are you also Avant-garde?
I am Rive Gauche.
I am Rive Droite
I’m funny

Please note, you can buy the instruments separately. You don’t have to buy the whole suite. That said, I don’t regret my mistake 😀
This sounds extremely convincing, especially in an arrangement.
I wonder what somebody like Vangelis would have done with this!
This is fantastic IMO. I love the Swam products for certain things…. the woodwind and some brass are really useful I think, but I never really got on with the Swam strings. These Strings from Epressive E will go into my template 🙂 I love the direction that modelled products are going in. One day we will be able to model whole sections convincingly…
It is a superb plug in. I tried it with a Sensel Morph, and after an hour twiggling , it worked extremely well. If you still have a Sensel Morph around, this is a great companion. I play bow on Doublebass, so this is a real good start.
