Large Format Modular Synth Jam

Sunday Synth Jam: Synthesist Pablo Penas, who makes MU-format modules under the name Corsynth, shared this large-format 6-channel modular synth jam.

Here’s what he has to say about the technical details:

“I was having fun testing the DR-03 Hihats / Metal prototype and I decided to record it,” notes Penas. “All sounds come from the 30 spaces Corsynth Modular. Everything was recorded in real time in 6 individual tracks. Only effects added are a bit of reverb and delay.”

  1. Sounds kinda bland, also beatstep pro – they don’t have any sequencers in 5U or somethin? Spend all that money and be like “Aight, time for the $200 sequencer”

Alternate take: that’s alotta space to make a hardware propellerhead rebirth track.

    1. 100% agree. seems like a huge waste of time and energy if this is the kind of output the guy is going to generate. this is pure modular fetishism.

This comment makes no sense – first you complain about the gear being too expensive and then you complain about them using a cost-effective gear and then you complain about them using gear instead of software.

Musicians should use whatever the **** gear that they have fun with.

      THAT’S WHY IT’S CALLED ‘PLAYING’.

      1. agree
Shouldnt matter the amount of gear to music ratio or the dough spent on it and/or how its utilized

This machine could do more and we may see that in the future

The sequencer doesnt have to be blazing the same label or brand to satisfy
Just a different workflow method, Maybe space was an issue

  2. Sounds like something I would have made when I was 15 using Fruity Loops.

To clarify, I do have an >700hp Eurorack so, I may have a slightly biased/jaded view of 5U, which has been objectively playing catch-up for years, albeit many people with Eurorack also seem to be more into either making unusable noises than music, or club tracks not a whole lot greater than this, which is like taking a Ferrari out to go buy groceries.

  3. If all commenters will share their tracks, after commenting music skills of others, we will
have triple LP platinum hits in one week
